Do you want photographs of your family where everyone actually looks genuinely happy? I mean, that's generally the goal, right?
If you're already planning a trip all together, then why not make the most of your time together?
A family holiday is the perfect time to schedule a family portrait session.
What makes family holiday portraits so great?
Snapping some family photos while on holiday is a great idea for a few valid reasons.
Your family is already in great spirits
Being on holiday is exciting, no matter how old you are! Exploring a new place or maybe returning to your go-to place, can be a huge breath of fresh air.
Your holiday portrait session can capture that exciting energy along with gorgeous backdrops of the holiday destination.
You are already in a really fun location
A holiday portrait session means you don't have to choose between the classic studio backdrop or a generic outdoor location that you already have tons of photos taken at. Instead, you get to capture your family in their vacation element!
If vacationing in the Alps for example, why not take advantage of its beautiful natural scenery by taking photos around one of its many majestic lakes or cozy chalets? Your holiday spot may even have some iconic places that are a must-visit to take photos.
Everyone is already all together - which might not happen often!
Getting the family together for photos can sometimes feel impossible. But while everyone is already planning on being in the same area at the same time for your holiday, it's the perfect chance to schedule a quick shoot and capture everyone's smiling faces altogether, while it lasts.
Your photos will be a keepsake of the holiday and all the fun times you had
Family holiday photos are not just a great way to capture everyone together in one place, but also serve as a reminder of all the fun you had on vacation. When looking at these photos years later, it'll bring back memories of laughter and the good times shared.
The best holiday locations for family portraits
Which kinds of places would make for the best family portrait backdrops? I have a few locations in mind.
Winter holiday in the Alps
For families that like to hit up the slopes all together (you guys are the coolest), nothing beats the beauty of the snowy winter scenery of the Alps.
While the Alps are a massive mountain range that stretches over multiple countries and contains countless ski resorts, one area, in particular, has my heart.
And that would be Passo del Tonale, located on the border of Lombardia and Trentino, in northern Italy.
Let's just say this little ski town has a lot of mountain fun to offer and comes with much smaller crowds than some of the other more massive Alpine ski resorts (and at a lower cost!) Learn more about this Italian Ski and Snowboard wonderland here.
Having family portraits taken in the Alps, or really any mountainous area in the wintertime would ensure that everyone has a smile on their faces and a rosy glow to their cheeks when the shutter clicks.
This location also provides endless limits when it comes to beautiful backgrounds and fun poses. Snow-covered mountains, emerald green pine trees, rustic chalets, and so, so much more.
Just remember to dress warm and be ready for some impromptu snowball fights!
Photos at the beach
Family portraits taken at the beach is a summertime must. Whether you're in the tropics or along the coastline or on a "staycation" in your own hometown, there's something special about getting your family portrait taken with the waves and sand as your backdrop.
The beach provides plenty of opportunities to get creative with props and poses too! From shells on the shoreline to colorful umbrellas in the sand or a little fun in the sun, you can guarantee everyone will be smiling, laughing and having a blast.
If you want to create lasting memories with your family that will be cherished in the years to come, consider scheduling a holiday portrait session. It's sure to be an experience your family will always remember!
And who knows, maybe these photos will even become a part of the holiday tradition.
